Beenie Man Says Vybz Kartel Wants To Be Like Him

Beenie Man is squashing rumours that he has any beef with Vybz Kartel.

Reports of the veteran recording artiste being upset with the incarcerated Dancehall superstar started after Kartel named his 2016 album ‘King of Dancehall’.

Refuting the rumours, the Doc who has long been referred to as the King said he was actually honoured that Kartel used the name.

According to the ‘Girls Dem Sugar’ deejay, Vybz Kartel using the ‘King of Dancehall’ title for his album only shows that he aspires to be like him, “If Kartel wah be me, dat a great thing. Mi respect and love dat. Dat show me how great mi is. Mi love dat,” he said.

Here’s Why YVAs Snubbed Vybz Kartel

Beenie added that he is also happy that Dancehall critics are now comparing him to younger acts like Vybz Kartel and Alkaline.

“Weh mi like, dem stop compare mi wid mi peers, dem start compare me with di younger artistes. Mi like dat. Dem stop compare me with Bounty, dem start compare me with Kartel. Dem compare mi wid Alkaline, mi like dat,” Beenie said.

Back in 2015, Beenie Man made it clear that Vybz Kartel could not be the ‘King of Dancehall’ and be behind bars, “You have to respect Addi work ethics, but him alone caan move dancehall forward,” he said. “The king cyaa allow the general fi run the army. Mi run the place already and mi a go dweet again.”
