African American in Prison

A woman was arrested and charged in Kingston after she left her newborn baby in a locked car while attending a breakfast party.

32-year-old Joelle Clayton of Sandhurst Cresent, St Andrew, was arrested after her four-month-old son was heard crying outside Sabina Park, the venue for Day Rave party.

Law enforcement officers broke a the window of her car and rescued the baby after public announcements at the party to locate the parents proved futile.

The baby was then taken to the hospital for medical examination and the car towed by the police.

Cops says the mother was then found inside the party and arrested. She was later charged with child endangerment and was subsequently offered station bail.

She is expected to appear before the Family Court on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
