Dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel is hitting back at critics after an old news article making him out as a police informant has surfaced online.

The original article which was published by the Jamaica Observer in April 2014, is currently making rounds on social media under the guise of it being a new story.

Dancehall fans were shocked when a screenshot of the article making Vybz Kartel out to be an informer started making the rounds on social media on Thursday, August 6. The post shows article however those who Kartel would call “Anti GAZA fans” removed the date it was published.

The article “17 Guns for freedom” alleged that Vybz Kartel told law enforcement officiers the whereabouts of several wanted men in Portmore, St Catherine and provided the authorities with information that led to the recovery of 17 illegal firearms.

A Police source at the time told the Jamaica Observer that Vybz Kartel gave up the information as part of an effort to gain his freedom, or at least a vastly reduced prison time after he was slapped with a life sentences for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

While responding to the recent surface of the article, Vybz Kartel took to his story via Instagram, “First of all dis an old article,” he wrote. “2nd dem bowaz bwoy de know who mi is. So A mus public dem a try impress…. #clans #1dons #wellpowerful #suckumudababylon.”
