According to ESPN, Williams told police that the she was trying to go through an intersection before the light changed. Unfortunately, she did not make it through the light in time causing her SUV to collide with another car entering the intersection. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The driver of the other car told police that she didn’t have enough time to slow down. A passenger in the other vehicle, 78-year-old Jerome Barson, endured head trauma and died at the hospital two weeks later. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Police say Williams was at fault for being in the intersection, but an investigation is still taking place. Williams’ lawyer referred to the accident as an “unfortunate accident.”
