USA Defeats Reggae Boyz 2-1 Gold Cup Final

Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz suffered an agonizingly late 2-1 defeat against the USA in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup finals at Levi’s Stadium in California on Wednesday night.

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris gave the Americans victory after he scored a 88th minute dramatic winner, to break a 1-1 scoreline which seemed destined for additional time.

The USA had opened the score in the 45th minute through a Jozy Altidore free kick, 26 minutes after the Reggae Boyz had lost their inspirational captain and goal keeper Andre Blake through injury.

Jamaica would however draw level in the 50th minute through Je-Vaughn Watson, who neatly guided home a corner from close range to set up a nervy ending.

Despite the agonizing defeat, Jamaica’s injured Captain, Andre Blake managed to claim the golden glove award, following a series of stunning displays throughout the tournament.
