Tourist Dies After Being Blown Away By Jet Engine Blast in St Maarten

A New Zealand tourist died after an attempt to withstand the blast of a jet engine on Wednesday.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

According to reports, the 57-year-old woman was vacationing on Maho Beach, which borders the Juliana International Airport in St Maarten.

Although, there are several warning signs in the area urging tourists to refrain from hanging on the fence that separates the beach from the airport, every so often, tourist test their luck and try to withstand the powerful jet engine blast. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Around 6 p.m., officials responded to calls reporting an incident at the beach, where a woman was blown away by the jet blast and knocked off her feet, which left her with a severe head injury. Several beachgoers tried to resuscitate the woman, but failed. When officials arrived, the woman was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

According to TMZ, St. Maarten police, along with airport officials, will be discussing new safety procedures, although this is the first fatality ever.
