Last month the company that owns the rights to “Fresh Prince,” filed documents to trademark the name for toys. The sudden filing sparked speculation of a reboot, especially after the original “Fresh Prince” took to Instagram to endorse an animated take on the beloved hit.
However, since then, new details have been revealed about the possibility of a reboot.⠀⠀
According to TMZ, the company that owns the rights to the “Fresh Prince” recently filed trademark docs for a new television show, which means a reboot is in fact in the works. However, the Prince may be taking a back seat on this project, as the applications are for the rights to the new “Fresh Princess.”
In fact, the company is also trying to lock down the rights to the name for merchandise, including bags, clothing and footwear, the publication reports.
However, there is no word on whether Will Smith will be involved in the reboot.
