One of Bill Cosby’s alleged victims asks US court to re-open defamation lawsuit

Renita Hill, former teen-actress who accused Bill Cosby of sexually molesting her at the age of 16 is asking a federal appeals court to re-open her defamation lawsuit against the actor.

Hill, who was one of the women who brought abuse allegations against Cosby in late 2014 claims that she was defamed when Martin Singer, Cosby’s lawyer described the new accounts as “fantastical,” ”ridiculous,” ”illogical” and beyond “absurd,” which resulted in a Massachusetts Federal court allowing seven women to sue Cosby for defamation over the statement his lawyer made however, Hill’s lawsuit was dismissed.

Hill’s lawyer claims that his client was defamed when Singer made reports that insinuated that the allegations brought against Cosby had been under investigation and proven to be false. Meanwhile, Cosby’s lawyer Angela C. Agrusa defended him saying the reports were pure opinion and Martin’s statement was an attack on the press for printing the allegations, no ruling has been made yet.

Cosby is still awaiting trial in June on sexual molestation charges.
