Tarrus Riley emerges as the top royalty earner for 2015

Reggae Singer Tarrus Riley has been declared the highest earning Jamaican artiste from royalty payouts for the year 2015.

The declaration was made by the Jamaica Association of Composers Authors and Publishers, JACAP, which collects royalties on behalf of music creators and publishers in Jamaica.

The “She’s Royal” crooner was declared the top earner from royalty payouts for the year 2015 by the non-profit organization.

Riley’s exact payout figures were not disclosed by JACAP, however they did reveal that the top earners for that period made up to $6 million from royalties collected both locally and overseas.

JACAP explains that a vast majority of royalty fees collected are from establishments, and promoters and organizers of events were copyrighted music was transmitted. They also site media houses as another source of income, as royalty is generated from airplay.
