St Georges player collapses, dies during Manning Cup game

Tragedy struck as a St Georges College schoolboy footballer collapsed and died during a ISSA-Flow Manning Cup game against Excelsior at Stadium East, St Andrew, on Tuesday.

According to reports, Dominic James, who captains the St George’s College Manning Cup football team, collapsed just four minutes into the game against Excelsior High School.

The player was reportedly was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to St Georges coach Neville Bell, doctors told him that the player apparently suffered a seizure while playing.

An obviously distraught Bell expressed his shock saying “This has never happened to me before in all my years of coaching,” and expressed his sadness especially towards James’ family, as he was an only child.
