St Catherine South Now Under Curfew

The police have imposed a curfew in sections of Central Village in St Catherine on Wednesday evening and will remain in effect until 6:00 pm on Thursday.

According to National Security Minister Robert Montague, wanted men have left St James to neighbouring parishes following the state of emergency, so cops are now carrying out operations across the country to apprehend them.

Montague said 18 people have since been detained in St Catherine North and one in St Catherine South.

Here are the boundaries of the curfew;

North: along the Nelson Mandela Highway from Andrews Lane in the east to the dirt road between Union Estate and Twickenham Housing Scheme.

South: along the northern bank of the Rio Cobre River from the western boundary.

East: along an imaginary line from the Nelson Mandela Highway along Andrews Lane and continuing along the western bank of the Rio Cobre to the intersection.

West: along the dirt road between Union Estate and Twickenham Housing Scheme turning right unto Central Road and continuing to the northern bank of the Rio Cobre River.

South: along the east bound lane of the Nelson Mandela Highway from the vicinity of the ackee factory to the entrance of Compound (taxi Stand).

East: along an imaginary line from the east bound lane of the Nelson Mandela Highway along Windsor Heights Road to the intersection with the northern boundary (where the road turns to the left) West: along an imaginary line from the east bound lane of the Nelson Mandela Highway to the football field at Zambia intersecting with the northern boundary.

During the hours of the curfew, all people within the boundaries are required to remain within their premises unless otherwise authorised by the ground commander.
