St Ann man charged with ex-girlfriend’s murder remanded

A St Ann man charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend in Ocho Rios was on Friday remanded into custody after he appeared before the St Ann Parish Court.

Norman Thompson, a 58-year-old St Ann vendor is charged with the murder of his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend Kyria Nelson, a loan officer also from the parish.

According to reports, Thompson brutally stabbed Nelson to death after she tried to end their relationship.

Eyewitness reports say Nelson was attacked by Thompson at the loan financing company she is employed. During a physical altercation it is reported that Thompson used a knife to stab Nelson several times before slashing her throat. Thompson surrendered himself to police custody minutes after the incident.
Nelson was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Thompson was remanded into custody following his court hearing on July 8, his next court hearing is scheduled for July 14.
