Squash Continues To “Hold the Faith” and “Fight” Behind Bars

Incarcerated Dancehall deejay Squash is sending a message from behind bars.

The ‘6ix Boss’ dropped two new single since the start of the year, “Hold the Faith” produced by One Time Music/ Sonovic Music and “Fight” produced by Attomatic Records.

Squash has been in police lock-up since August 8, 2018 and has yet to be released despite not being charged with any criminal offenses.

Back in October last year, Squash’s mother, Shelly-Ann Millwood, called out the relevant authorities to release her son, “My son is a free man, he is not on no charge, but it will take two weeks for them to release him,” she declared.

“Him out there doing him thing and likkle afta they put out him name and say him must carry in himself because he is wanted for questioning. We get a lawyer, the lawyer take him in, and the lawyer talk to dem and dem say him free to go,” she explained.

However, following his initial release the entertainer was picked up just two days later in St Ann and brought to the Freeport lock-up, where he has since remained.

The 27-year-old Dancehall superstar, whose real name is Andre Whittaker, was brought before a tribunal on August 30 in relation to his detention but no ruling was handed down in his matter.

According to Millwood, the situation has become increasingly difficult as the deejay is the sole breadwinner of the family and has been forced to miss over 14 contractual agreements since being locked up.

She revealed that deposits for several of these shows had to be returned, while countless others remain in limbo including a performance in Dubai.

Squash was previous detained for over four months last year at the Freeport Police Station in Montego Bay under the state of emergency, before he was released in June without charge.
