Spragga Benz

The Tropixs (Kingston Jamaica) Spragga Benz has created Billboard Reggae Album Chart history after his new album Chiliagon secured the number one spot.

Spragga Benz, whose given name is Carlton Grant is now the oldest Dancehall artiste to top chart at age 50.

Released on September 27 by Easy Star Records, Chiliagon is the deejay’s 8th studio album and first in nearly a decade.

Chiliagon was produced by Andrew Oury, Paul Fowler, Cristy Barber, and Spragga himself. It sees the deejay explore various sounds and moods and has been dubbed as one of his best by fans.

The album can be described as an eclectic mix of Dancehall, roots, riddim, drum and bass, garage, grime, and hip hop.

According to Spragga “It was effortless the way the album came together. The producers put their beats together, I put my songs together, and we got the sound we wanted.”

“Sometimes it feels like a thousand different musical genres have come from reggae and dancehall. With this album, we set out to get into those styles, but I NEVER do what everybody is doing… I never follow any bandwagon,” he added.

Spragga Benz would go on to reveal one of his favorite tracks from the set, “Believe” which features Tanika. “Chiliagon” is now available on all streaming platforms, such as Pandora.
