Spice Shows Why She Shouldn’t Speak Patois On Love & Hip Hop Atlanta

The heated debate over Spice using standard english and not Jamaican patois on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta is far from over.

The Dancehall artiste is featured in the new season of VH1’s smash hit series “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.” Since footage of the ‘Robot Wine’ deejay began to circulate online, many have trolled Spice claiming that she is ‘twanging’ and pretending to be someone she is not.

On Wednesday, Spice whose real name is Grace Hamilton took to social media to address her critics, “Just a quick note for Fyi to those of you who keep complaining why I’m not speaking only “patois” I went on this platform to capture a wider audience and to gain more international fans,” she said. “If I speak patwa that only “Jamaicans” can understand then I’ll defeat the purpose of this opportunity. When miss Jamaica goes out to represent the country “Mi never hear none a dem a chat bad” so why now unu quick fi have a problem when I try to make the audience understand who I am ?. Have a Smurferific day ?????.”

Spice Accused On Disrespecting Jamaica On Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta

Fans then responded saying that the if Spice will be representing her country on the docu-soap franchise, she should not be ashamed of speaking Jamaican creole like rapper Safaree who is featured on Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood.

Spice once again is hitting back, just hours after she uploaded four clips showing Davina Bennett, Usain Bolt, Shaggy and Sean Paul.

“Patois ? a wonder if mi deaf ? ?? cause I don’t hear none??‍♀️So why a me alone” in the wol country dem wah fi speak patwa ???,” she wrote. “I’m going to bed early tonight. Big up all these phenomenal Jamaicans who represent us world wide. Slide and listen to a few of my fellow Jamaicans who I truly admire.  #TeamJamaica??.”
