Slain St Ann cop ruled criminally responsible for colleague’s death

A Coroner’s Court jury has found slain St Ann cop, Shane Francis, criminally responsible for the death of his fellow colleague Constable Sheldon Williams, who was shot and killed in 2010.

The ruling brought an end to a prolonged inquest into the controversial shooting death of constable Williams. The cop was allegedly shot by his colleague’s for reportedly running from the St Ann police station where he was being processed in relation to a illegal gun discharge.

The implication of Constable Shane Francis may be seen as somewhat redundant, as was he himself was shot and killed in a shooting incident back in April by a licensed firearm holder at a party in White River, St Ann.

Two other cops were also exonerated by the Coroner’s Court July 5 ruling.

Sources say a civil suit is expected to follow, the family of the late constable will reportedly seek compensation for Williams’ death.
