Sizzla Concert In California Cancelled Over LGBT Protest

The LGBT community has forced the cancellation of a Sizzla Kalonji show in California.

The Reggae/Dancehall superstar was scheduled to perform at the Mateel Community Center in Redway, CA on July 13.

After some local outcry from the LGBT community, the Mateel board decided that the ‘Thank You Mama’ singer’s event should be cancelled, “The board decided to cancel the Sizzla concert,” board member and former president of the board Garth Epling said on Wednesday.

Sizzla Kalonji is frequent subject of controversy for lyrics that advocate violence against the LGBTQ community. The artiste is no stranger to canceled gigs and revoked passports as a result of his anti-gay sentiments in music.

Sizzla Shows Progress Of His Museum

Over the years, several of his concerts in the United States, Canada, and Europe have been affected by protest from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community who labeled his music “murder music.”

Back in 2007, Sizzla, Capleton, and Beenie Man and several other Reggae/Dancehall artistes signed the Reggae Compassionate Act however they have been called out for not complying with the petition.
