Shenseea has teamed up with the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) to lead the fight against COVID-19.

On Saturday Shenseea dropped a dubplate to her hit single “Trending Gyal,” encouraging Jamaicans to adhere to COVID-19 protocols. In the catchy tune, the deejay encouraged fans to wear theirs masks and desist from reckless behavior that might put them at risk.

“Everyone fi wear a mask mek the numbers drop, I don’t want COVID lay you down flat; nose and mouth you fi cover up dat oh-oh-oh-oh,” she spits.

“Sanitize or get hospitalize, fight di virus and fight fi your life; nuh boda talk bout yuh no response,” she continued.

The clip was shared by Minister of Health and Wellness Dr. Christopher Tufton. It follows the announcement of Jamaica’s record breaking 328 new cases in a 24 hour period.

The decision to use Shenseea as the voice of the campaign has seemingly incurred mixed reactions. While many fans praised the message and encouraged other artistes to do the same some fans were critical of the Ministry’s choice.

“She contradict herself in this PSA when she perform overseas at super spreader events. The ministry should’ve done some research before they get an artiste for these PSA’s,” one fan lamented.

These sentiments were also shared by another fan who complained, “Shenseea is NOT the one to tell us to take Covid precautions. I’ve seen her IG stories.”
