Shaggy Receives Backlash From Rihanna Fans Over Album Snub

Rihanna’s Navy is going in on Shaggy over his snub of her album.

Reggae superstar Shaggy has found himself on the receiving end of some backlash from Rihanna fans.

Shaggy angered The Navy after recently revealing that he turned down a chance to feature on Rihanna’s upcoming studio album.

According to Shaggy, he was approached by Rihanna’s team but opted out to let ‘younger’ talent audition for the spots.

“They approached me for the Rihanna project, yeah. There’s a lot of great people involved, but for me, I didn’t need to audition to be on the record, I’ll leave that to younger guys. But from what I hear it should be good,” Shaggy said.

While some fans who heavily supported Shaggy’s decision not to audition, there where others who blasted the Jamaican.

Many of Rihanna’s stans blasted the deejay, claiming he should have jumped at the chance to work with her.

They claim that even though Shaggy is a legend in his own right, Rihanna is just in a bigger stratosphere.

“Nobody is out here mad that shaggy isn’t on Rihanna’s album & that is what y’all failing to understand lol…no matter how big shaggy is, rihanna is bigger,” one fan wrote, while another said, “Rihanna is a legend and Shaggy should have auditioned twice even.”

Shaggy is one of Jamaica’s most successful artistes of all time. The Grammy-winning deejay remains the only Dancehall artiste to sell 10 million copies, for his 2000 album Hot Shot.
