Sean Kingston is hoping to earn the first Grammy nomination of his career for the Billboard-topping album ‘Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica’.

The Jamaican-born pop superstar is hoping to get the first nomination of his glittering career which saw him topping the Billboard charts on numerous occasions with hits such as “Beautiful Girl” and “Take Me There.

The album, which was released back in January by Contractor Music Group/Amada Records spent just over 10 weeks on the Billboard Reggae Chart and topped it for four consecutive weeks.

According to producer Sean ‘Contractor’ Edwards, the album was submitted to the Grammy board for consideration as a Best Reggae Album contender and was recently given the green light.

The project would also mark the first Grammy nomination for other notable acts such as incarcerated Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel, who is featured on the album’s lead single “Chance.”

According to Kingston, it would be a blessing for both himself and Vybz Kartel if the project gained recognition as the prestigious award can change a lot of stuff for any artiste across any genre.

He claims Vybz Kartel remains one of the greatest Dancehall artistes to ever emerge from the genre and it would be truly special to win an award for a project they both worked on together.

Kingston went on to say that there is still a long way to go before the shortlist of albums is announced, but he believes the project can go all the way.
