Rygin King Talks About His Ego And Changing Dancehall Music

Rygin King has spoken on his growing influence on Dancehall music and his often misunderstood confidence.

The “Tuff” deejay has emerged as one of the most sought-after Dancehall acts throughout 2018 with a distinctive style and sound which has arguably changed the landscape of the genre.

According to the “Legacy” deejay, the Dancehall scene has changed with more talents from the Western parishes coming to the forefront, and that can largely be attributed to his Trap-Dancehall sound.

“2018 mi mek mi debut, from January till now a me hot, and there is no point in denying that,” the deejay said before adding “we have Dancehall ah Mobay right now, because a one person, Dancehall baddest ting and ah Rygin King.”

It’s hard to argue with the 23-year-old star, as many other artistes have already begun to dabble with the sound, including Aidonia who recently put out a number of Trap inspired singles.

Since his big break many have criticized the deejay’s overflowing confidence labeling it as arrogance, but according to the deejay, it is this “ego” which has allowed him to flourish.

“Mi have a ego yo, It’s so big yuh nuh, that push mi, that drive mi,” the deejay explained.

In recent weeks the deejay has been forced to dispell growing rumours of a feud with fellow entertainer Alkaline after fans claimed he dissed the Vendetta deejay during a Instagram Live session.

However, according to the deejay he has never mentioned any other artiste’s name and is strictly focused on doing his own thing.
