Ritson demands credit from Spragga Benz for Differ

Montego Bay-based dancehall artiste Ritson believes that upcoming artistes should be given the credit they deserve when established artistes sample their songs.

The deejay says he released a song titled Different last July and a few months later Spragga Benz released a song titled Differ featuring lyrics that are similar to the lyrics of his song.

“I wrote Different and recorded it in February 2018 after it was mixed I uploaded it to Youtube. It was officially released in July that same year, a few months later Spragga Benz released Differ in November. Anyone who listens to both songs can hear the glaring similarities,” said Ritson.

Ritson says he’s not upset that the veteran deejay copied his style, but he does believe that he should get the credit that is due to him.

“I’m not upset because the streets know a me first say diffa it’s my slang, all I want is credit for my style. If a man can pinch my style and use it, he should be man enough to give me credit for it. In America, when a big artiste likes another artiste song, they sample it and give them their credit.”

The industrious entertainer who is also a visual arts artist says he does not plan to take any legal action against Spragga Benz.

“I don’t need to sue anyone because my songs are properly copyrighted and Spragga is one of the deejays that I look up to from I was a little youth,” said Ritson.

Ritson is getting ready to push a new single titled Pagan which is slated to be released in July. The hard-working deejay is also working on his sophomore album titled Assertive which is scheduled for released early next year.
