Rita Marley is now a citizen of Ghana.
The Cuban-born Jamaican singer and the widow of Reggae legend Bob Marley, was one of 126 Africans in the Diaspora conferred with the honour by President Nana Akufo- Addo.
The ceremony was held last month at Golden Jubilee House, the presidential palace in Accra.
Ghana, officially the Republic of Ghana, is a country located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, in the subregion of West Africa.
Rita Marley has been doing intensive work in the country over a decade now. Through her foundation, she has been involved in projects including rehabilitating old school blocks and building new ones, she also supports the children by providing lunches for primary school children to supplement their nutrition, and through scholarships.
