Veteran Roots Reggae singer Edi Fitzroy, real name Fitzroy Edwards, died on Saturday at the May Pen Hospital, he was 61-years-old.
Edwards was born in Chapelton, Clarendon, Jamaica, and was exposed to music from an early age through his father’s sound system. While working as an accounting clerk at the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation in 1978 he got his first hit single Miss Molly Colly with the help of radio presenter Mikey Dread.
Edi Fitzroy is also known for songs like The Gun and Princess Black and Check For You Once.
