Tarrus Riley and Shenseea’s “Lighter” is single-handedly uniting the local music industry.

The Rvssian produced track is a mellow, mod-tempo which compliments fiery romance was released on September 6 and has amassed 6 million views on YouTube so far.

Just last week, Shenseea shut down rumours that she used auto-tuned to enhance her voice in the song and launched the “Lighter Challenge.”

Speaking with fans on Instagram, Shenseea showcased her vocal skills, silencing social media trolls. “Alright, let’s settle this, shall we?” She said before she started to hit the notes of the Lighter’s chorus: “Baby when the bright lights start to fade, fire up your lighter…”

The entertainer then proceeded to challenge her fans to share their renditions of the song with the #LighterChallenge hashtag. “Calling all a mi singers dem, hit this note, post it on Instagram and tag me so I can repost you guys.”

So far, several Reggae and Dancehall entertainers have joined the viral wave including Protoje, Uptop Boss Teejay and JDon, Wanye Marshall and Tami Chin, Tessanne Chin, and many others have uploaded videos on social media.
