QQ Not Paying “One Drop” Royalties Says Venomus

Dancehall artist Venomus has accused fellow entertainer QQ and his management team of denying him royalties from their “One Drop” collaboration.

The recording artist, who recently re-branded himself as a Reggae act, has lashed out against his former collaborator QQ and his management team, who he claims denied him of his fair share to royalties from their 2013 hit single “One Drop”.

According to the entertainer, QQ’s handlers previously tried to prevent him from accessing royalties by not using the correct spelling of his name in the publishing, and also later offering him only a 15% stake in the hit single.

Venomus feels that was deliberately marginalized and deserves a bigger stake in the royalties, as he was the one who came up with the concept for the song, and wrote its catchy chorus.

QQ’s management team have however disputed these claims, calling them a cheap “marketing strategy” aimed at gaining attention for the singer’s career.

According to the “Rhum Ram” deejay’s father and manager GQ, the song’s publishing was agreed from its conceptualization in 2013. He claims the arrangement grantees song producer Stashment Records 50%, while performers QQ earned 35% and Venomus 15% respectively.

Venomous has since gone on to warn all fellow upcoming artist to aggressively protect their copyright and publishing rights when collaborating with more established acts following his experience.
