Protoje addresses the current state of Jamaica with “Blood Money”

Reggae artiste Protoje releases his first official single for the new year titled “Blood Money.”

The Winta James-produced single provides a hard-hitting, raw and unapologetic commentary on the current state of Jamaica, touching on several social injustices that have afflicted Jamaican society. The “Kingston Be Wise” hit maker describes the air of discrimination, classism, and oppression prevalent in the Jamaican political landscape, calling out corrupt practices, and conveys the meaningful message to his audience of awareness, activism and the need to call for change and accountability.

Speaking with Fader Magazine about the single Protoje said, “This song is so socially relevant, people connect to it on first listen. It’s speaking about things that are collectively on all of our minds, that we all want to talk about, and I’m using my voice to bring these topics to the forefront of conversation.”
