One man is now dead and four others injured, including a pregnant woman, following a gun attack at a funeral for alleged Quarry, Glendevon, ‘area leader’ Oshane ‘Ganda’ Duhaney, in St James, on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Michael Bernard, a resident of the adjoining community of Salt Spring within the parish.
According to reports, four other persons including a pregnant woman were shot and injured as pall-bearers carried the casket of the 28-year-old alleged area leader out of the Quarry Full Gospel Church of God.
Reports indicate that security forces had just left the funeral service before shots began to ring out at the church.
The killing comes as a slap in the face to the efforts of security forces as it was committed during the state of emergency which was declared by Prime Minister Andrew Holness last Thursday.
