Popcaan pays tribute to late Reggae icon Garnet Silk in his latest release “New Found Love.”
The international recording artiste covers Garnet Silk’s 1992 classic song “New Found Love” for Notnice records upcoming “King Midas” album set for July 17.
According to producer, Ainsley ‘Notnice’ Morris, Popcaan pitched the idea to him while he was in Trinidad and Tobago fro an event. “He [Popcaan] just called me and asked to have the riddim ready when him reach Jamaica,” Notnice said. “I contacted Clive Hunt and got the musicians together, and the rest is greatness (not history). Popcaan’s voice on the track blends naturally and people have been giving it some good feedback since we previewed it about a week ago.”
“This is the first time Popcaan is doing a cover and also the first time people really get to hear him on a reggae riddim, even singing,” he added.
