Popcaan Lawyer Says Deejay’s Image Being Tarnished By Viral Video

Popcaan’s lawyer says his image has been tarnished.

Popcaan’s lawyer, Bert Samuels, has expressed concern over a video that is being circulated on social media.

The 30-second clip, which emerged on social media last week, sees cops searching a vehicle in which Popcaan was an occupant.

In the clip, a woman is heard suggesting that the deejay was held in connection with an illegal firearm.

“Now people look wah a gwaan. Me hear say dem ketch Popcaan wid gun,” the woman is heard saying.

However, Samuels has since stated that neither Popcaan or any of his affiliates were detained for illegal firearms.

According to Samuels, the car was stopped by law enforcers for a road traffic violation. He explained that during the stop, another occupant of the vehicle declared he was a licensed firearm holder. Following that declaration, the lawmen asked everyone traveling in the vehicle to exit while they conducted checks.

The attorney says the firearm was examined and returned to its holder, and that was the end of the incident.

Since the incident, Samuels declared that the viral video clip is damaging to his client’s public image.

According to the attorney, the circulation of the video has caused people to rush to unfortunate and incorrect conclusions. He says he remains concerned as this could potentially hurt his image.

“I am particularly concerned that Popcaan’s image has been tarnished out of a simple road traffic violation by another person,” Samuels said.

“I have spoken with Mr (Andre) Sutherland and he feels disappointed that an incident-free encounter with the police is being turned into a story with no foundation.”

The police have since confirmed that there were no arrests, indicating that there was no breach, except for the road traffic violation.

On Wednesday Popcaan took to Instagram to seemingly address the issue with a cryptic post.

“Yea man, me a watch unu style man. Me see unu a try tarnish me name and dem sittin’ deh man. We outside thou, don’t?” he said in a video, which was captioned: ‘Great is he that trust the Most High.’
