Popcaan Joins Bounty Killer To Blast Jamaica Government Over Profanity Law

Popcaan has joined Bounty Killer to call out the Government of Jamaica over the strict profanity law.

Echoing the War Lord’s cry for the authorities to be more lenient with Dancehall acts who use obscene languages at stage shows, the “Family” deejay uploaded a video from his recent performance at Drake’s OVO Fest in Toronto, Canada.

Popcaan took the stage at the annual concert and represented Jamaica and Dancehall while dropping a few local expletives. “Full time our police stop taking people off stage for saying Bomboclaat In Jamaica,” the deejay said. “I think it’s very stupid for people to love the culture so much and is being taken off stage for saying it, Bomboclaat is a big part of Jamaica and dancehall culture. Listen how much ppl say Bomboclaat In Canada with no police escorting me off stage at a corporate concert ???.”

Under section 9C of The Town and Communities Act in Jamiaca, any person who shall make on any fence, wall or other building, any obscene figure, drawing, painting, or representation, or sing any profane, indecent, or obscene song or ballad, or write or draw any indecent or obscene word, figure, or representation, or use any profane, indecent or obscene language publicly can be subject to a fine not exceeding $1,500 or to imprisonment with or without hard labour, for a period not exceeding thirty days.
