Popcaan is making it clear that he does not want the same fate as his former mentor Vybz Kartel or veteran deejay Ninjaman.

The international Dancehall artiste took to social media on Thursday to share with his fans that they should desist from referring to him as a ‘Don’ or ‘General’.

Popcaan who is known for his Unruly camp, which sees him travelling with a large group wrote, “I don’t want to be no Don, I don’t want to be no general, the results for both of them is prison or funeral.. call me a GAD!!!”.

The ‘Stray Dog’ deejay, whose given name is Andrae Sutherland’s comment comes just weeks after Ninjaman was sentenced to life for the March 2009 murder of Ricardo Johnson. While Vybz Kartel who was instrumental for Popcaan’s rise to stardom, is also serving life on a similar conviction.

Other Dancehall artistes whom have been labelled as ‘Dons’ including Tommy Lee Sparta and Alkaline, recently found themselves in trouble with the law. Both acts have been listed as persons of interest on several occasions.
