Popcaan

Popcaan says he has reached legendary status in Dancehall.

The Unruly Boss has never lacked self-belief, and he has proved it once again by declaring himself a Dancehall legend.

The “Family” deejay took to Instagram recently to make the bold claim, following his visit to Ghana.

“FYI I’m a legend,” the deejay wrote, a statement which was largely supported by his fans on social media.

There is no doubt that the Dancehall superstar is now of the biggest names in Dancehall music, with fans all around the globe. Few could argue that he is achieved the popularity and success of the great icons before him.

The deejay, who is signed to Drake’s OVO label remains one of Jamaica’s commercially bankable stars. He has collaborated with some of the biggest stars in music while maintaining a strong local presence.

Popcaan recently spoke briefly of his tremendous growth and plans for 202o in an Onstage interview with Winford Williams.

According to Popcaan, he is fully focused on his upcoming album, which is due later this year. This, of course, follows the success of his latest mixtape “Vanquish,” which was released by OVO music.

The deejay would go on to discuss his friendship with rapper Drake, and getting him to perform at Unruly fest. Poppy said getting Drake on a stage in Jamaica was a big win for Jamaica and his parish of St. Thomas.

In the interview, the deejay also addressed the pain following the murder of close friend Shagel, who was killed at his home. He admits its something he will never get over but continues to heal as time goes by.

Popcaan says he learned of his friend’s death just a day before his performance in Wembley Arena in London. He recalls the performance as one of the most difficult of his entire career.
