Popcaan wants the new wave of Dancehall acts to put some respect on his name!

The Unruly Boss was in an uncharacteristically upset mood earlier this week as he took to Instagram express his anger towards several ‘ungrateful’ and ‘disrespectful’ young Dancehall acts.

In the short video clip, the Family deejay can be heard blasting young entertainers who he says have no respect for their predecessors in the entertainment industry.

“I grow with respect and principles and morals even tho man unruly? and without principle a bay chaos hear that…!!!!” the deejay captioned the post.

The Dancehall superstar would go on to issue a warning to younger peers telling them to leave his name out of their mouths and stop trying to ‘level up’ with him as he has put in a lot of work over the years.

The deejay would go on to highlight some of his accolades over the years, including a claim to be the first Dancehall artiste to receive a verified Facebook and a blue tick on Instagram. The rant came as surprise to many fans as the deejay usually displays a light hearted, jovial persona on social media, leading many to question exactly who could have angered the entertainer.

“Dem get d killy crazi…. a who a try compare demself wid the young king? ?❤️❤️❤️ @popcaanmusic #troubledehdeh,” one fan wrote, while another added “First I ever see or heard popcorn upset.”

The deejay’s comments seemed to be echoed by a majority of fans, but he did pick up some flack from some supporters who claim he is not the first trending artiste in the US or being the first to be verified.

According to some fans, the deejay needs to clarify some of those statements as there have been others before him to trend even before the explosion of social media including the Marleys, Beenie Man and others.

“Not the first but what he is saying is factual. Some of these djs/singers must put in the work and respect those who have. If not the person, respect the work,” one fan pointed out.

Popcaan remains on of the most successful Dancehall artistes of this generation, gaining millions of fans from over the world. He was recently signed to Drake’s OVO label and has already collaborated with some of the biggest names in music internationally.
