Phillips Says Macaroni Running The Government, Holness Hits Back

A video clip featuring Dr. Peter Phillips, President of the opposition Peoples National Party PNP has now gone viral after he branded the Jamaican government as ‘Macaroni’ in Parliament.

The senior politician made the hilarious comment during an address to Parliament where he said: “How can the government who gave up over four billion dollars in revenues in the past two years to the bauxite companies now claim they would have to impose new taxes in order to pay increases for teachers. What kind of madness is that…?”

The Minister then cheekily added, “Sometimes, Mr Speaker, it look like is Macaroni running the government!”

The viral footage has since been shared by hundreds of users on social media since its release.

‘Macaroni’ Speaks Out Against Negative Attention

The term ‘Macaroni,’ which is generally used to describe anyone engaged in a foolish or ridiculous act first came into prominence a few months ago after a viral video clip of a bus driver attempted to cross dangerous waters in Portland.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Andrew Holness has since responded to Phillips’ statement. Speaking in Parliament, Holness said he wasn’t aware who ‘Macaroni’ was however after doing his search he discovered it was a bus operator man from Portland.

Holness outlined that on the day of the incident, ‘Macaroni’ gave his bus to a friend who he claims is a supporter of the opposition leader.
