Pastor Wants More Dancehall Artiste To Do Gospel Tracks

At least one pastor is calling for the church to throw their support behind Dancehall artistes who perform Gospel tracks regardless of their faith.

According to Bishop Everton Thompson, the same man ordained Marion Hall recently, once a track is deemed clean Gospel he believes Christians should support it regardless of who sings it.

The pastor went on to challenge fellow Christians to be not so quick to judge these entertainers regardless of their secular lifestyle reminding them that it is the message that is important.

He claims that there is little to nothing is known about the author’s of the classic gospel hymns personal lives and yet their works are used during worship.

Bounty Killer Turns To Gospel

Although the pastor says he sees nothing wrong with supporting these gospel tracks from Dancehall act he did reveal that strongly encourages them to accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior.

The pastor believes that artistes who record gospel songs are being called by God and may be willing to accept the faith so it is the church’s duty to help them find their path towards the Lord.

Thompson’s comments come after a recent wave of gospel-themed tracks from Dancehall artistes including Wayne Marshall and veteran deejay Bounty Killer, who teamed up for “Thank You For The Blessing.”

Several Dancehall/Reggae artistes have made the transition to the Christian faith over the years, including notable names such as Papa San, Lt. Stitchie, Lady Saw, Chevelle Franklyn, and most recently Alaine.
