Parents of murdered St Ann child charged

The Police have charged the mother and step father of 3-year-old Nevalisa Campbell who was brutally chopped to death in Orange Hill, St Ann over the weekend.

24-year-old bartender Mahalia Poyser and her boyfriend Roy Dawes, a 34 year old plumber have been both charged with breaches of the Child Care and Protection Act.

The mother reportedly told police that she woke up in the middle of the night and discovered that the child was missing and raised an alarm.

However police investigations revealed the two adults left Nevalisa and her twin brother at home alone and went to a community dance.

Acting Head of the Saint Ann Police Superintendent Gary Francis said the file is expected to be submitted to the courts today for the matter to be heard.
