If there was ever a doubt about the veteran deejay’s popularity among the younger generation then that was put to rest following a recent visit to his nephew’s school.

The “King Of The Dancehall” was left totally surprised by the tremendous reaction he received from hundreds of children after he popped up to wish his 8-year-old nephew a happy birthday.

The deejay took to Instagram to share a video clip of him being greeted by a large group of screaming students who chanted his name in adornment, “Beenie Man, Beenie Man,” while desperately trying to hug the star.

“When yuh think yuh coulda sneak inna yuh little 8-year-old nephew school just to bless him up pon him birthday. Then this happen!” the deejay captioned the post.

He would go on to say “Before I entered the school I was thinking them pickney ya nuh know mi! But that change in a split second. The love the youths them showed me not even being in front of 50 000 adult fans moved me like this. It’s a joy and a blessing to still be able to touch a child. #kingbeenieman #BeenieMan #MosesDavis.”

The incident became near pandemonium as students had to be calmed down by teachers and a security guard as they tugged and the deejay’s garments.

Since then several fans have taken to social media to express their joy for the entertainer with one fan saying “How dem a gwan like 90s artise no relevant to this generation bless up the king,” while another added, “This must be a great feeling mi artist a child shall lead them u still got it king.”

Beenie Man has remained one of the most relevant artiste in Dancehall history, with an incredible career spaning almost 40 years.

The Grammy-winning deejay has an extensive catalog of hits, which covers numerous generations, and has collaborated with several international superstars such as Nicki Minaj, Janet Jackson, Mya, and rapper T.I.
