Jamaican sprint hurdler Omar McLeod has been nominated for the IAAF 2017 World Athlete of the Year.
The 23-year-old Olympic gold medalist champion is the only Jamaican athlete nominated for the prestigeous 10 man and woman shortlisting, which was released on Monday.
The nominations notably excluded Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt for the first time in a number of years following his disappointing third place finish at the 2017 World Championships in London.
Other Jamaican athletes who failed to make the cut also included Elaine Thompson, who failed to medal at the games after previously enjoying a stellar campaign leading up to the World Championships.
