Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj has reportedly responded to Buju Banton’s hotel room being raided over the weekend.
Banton who was in the twin-island republic for the third leg of his Long Walk to Freedom tour, had his hotel room searched by cops, who indicated they were in possession of a warrant. It was later revealed that the search was not ordered by the authorities.
Speaking with 18 Karat, Nicki Minaj blasted the authorities, “They had no good reason to search the man’s room except that he is a Rasta and today is 420. What they did is disgusting,” Nicki said. “For a man like Buju Banton who was victimised by the American justice system to be treated like this by our own people is just embarrassing.”
Despite the incident, Buju Banton is calling for the relations between Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago to be improved.
