American rapper Tyga has sampled Dancehall artiste Mr Vegas on his new single ‘1 of 1’.
The rapper was recently in Jamaica to shoot the video for the single in Portland and Duhaney Park. ‘1 of 1’ features a sample of a classic late 90’s Mr Vegas song ‘Sucky Ducky’.
The song ‘1 of 1’ sees the rapper navigating into unusual territory, singing and using Jamaican Patios.
Speaking on the sample, Mr Vegas claims he wasn’t contacted by the rapper. He says since hearing about the single he reached out to his publishers to find out if they gave Tyga the green light on the project.
“I heard about the sample and the song. I sent an email to my publisher asking if they cleared the sample,” He said.
Vegas who recently blasted Canadian rapper Drake for not giving credit to the dancehall artistes Popcaan, Beenie Man and Serani after sampling their songs on his ‘VIEWS’ album says he will not comment on ‘1 of 1’ until he’s aware of what was negotiated.
The outspoken deejay however says he’s flattered that Tyga sampled his single.
“I think it is flattering that these international artistes are sampling dancehall artistes, including myself.”
Meanwhile, since the release of the single Tyga has been subjected to criticism from many social media users, claiming that the track sounded exactly to Drake’s “Controlla” single.
