A second suspect has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Lorenzo Thomas, otherwise called ‘Israel’ or ‘Trulups’ in Cassava Piece, St Andrew on June 5.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch’s (CIB) Major Investigation Division (MID) have charged 23-year-old Andre Hinds along with Dancehall entertainer, Mavado’s 16-year-old son.
They are jointly charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, arson, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
The two accused are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 18.
Mavado Embarks On Spiritual Voyage
According to police reports, on June 5 at about 3:00 a.m., the two accused were among a group of armed men who kicked open a door to Thomas’ Cassava Piece house in St Andrew. Thomas was subsequently shot and chopped with machetes, and then set ablaze.
Violence sparked in the community three weeks ago after Mavado was shot at following a dispute. Mavado who is wanted for questioning in relation to the flare-up in violence is still in the United States.
