Bob Marley’s 75th birthday celebrations will be very special this year.

The Reggae superstar’s estate has announced plans for a very special celebration on what would have been his 75th birthday on February 6.

The Bob Marley Foundation revealed that the Reggae icon’s diamond jubilee celebration will be themed ‘Marley 75: Redemption.’

The announcement was made during a Facebook live broadcast of the launch event, which was held at the Tuff Gong International Studios in Kingston.

The celebrations will include a ‘Marley 75: Redemption Concert’ featuring Marley’s children and other brand ambassadors. It will all take place at the Bob Marley Museum on Hope Road in Kingston.

According to the Bob Marley Foundation, the diamond jubilee celebration’s theme was inspired by Marley’s classic hit, Redemption Song. The track was one of his last singles recorded before his death in 1981.

The song was ranked 66th on the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2014 by Rolling Stones Magazine. In 2010, the track was also listed as one of the Top 20 Political Songs by the New Statesman.

Earlier this year, Redemption Song was listed at number three of the Seven Best Anti-war Songs by Popdust music magazine. “Redemption Song is timeless and of its time,” the publication noted.
