A Utah man has been arrested in the death of his wife following a “domestic dispute” on Tuesday.

Kenneth Manzanares and his wife Kristy Kanzanares were reportedly traveling with a group of people and their kids on a seven-day round trip cruise from Seattle. The Emerald Princess cruise ship embarked on the trip on Sunday, and was originally scheduled to travel around the Tracy Arm fjord near Juneau, but diverted on Wednesday, just one day after the fatal dispute.

Witnesses who were two decks above the couple at the time of the incident told officials that they heard screaming coming from the decks below. Another witness told the publication that they saw a little girl run from the room, saying her parents had just got into a fight.

A third witness, identified as D.H. in the affidavit said he saw Kenneth near the ship’s balcony, dragging his wife’s body near the edge. When the witness approached Kenneth, he said, “She wouldn’t stop laughing at me.” The witness said they then “grabbed the ankles” of the victim’s body and “pulled her back in [to the cabin].”

Shortly after, officials arrived on the scene. “Blood was spread throughout the room on multiple surfaces” and Kristy, who had a severe head wound, was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later. Police then noticed Kenneth had specs of blood on his hands and clothes, and took him into custody.

Ultimately, passengers were allowed to disembark on Wednesday after interviews with officials. But, the rest of their cruise was unaffected.

“Guests who had shore excursions booked for Tracy Arm fjord will have their shipboard folio credited automatically, and prepaid shore excursions will be refunded. Additionally, in light of the impact on guests’ cruise vacations, Princess Cruises has issued each guest a $150 onboard credit,” the cruise line said in a statement Thursday.
