Light-Skinned Model Blasted Online As Not Being ‘An Average Jamaican’

Jamaican critics have sought to address the selection of model and TV host Gabrielle Davis to join the cast for the first season of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Miami.

Davis made the announcement recently on Instagram, “I’m so excited! Finally able to Announce I Have joined The @loveandhiphopvh1 Team. This Is What I have Been Working on Low Key” the former Pulse model wrote.

However according to a few Jamaicans online, producers of the show should’ve selected a better candidate as Davis’ fair complexion doesn’t make her ‘represent’ the country well.

“We need the average looking Jamaican to represent Jamaica ??,” one user posted online, as another said Davis doesn’t look like the ‘average Jamaican.’

However Davis also shared the views on the topic, “What is average,” she questioned. “Jamaica has so many beautiful women … out of many one people. They Keep they need an average Jamaican I’m not average ??‍♀️ but I’m still Jamaican.”
