Leon Bailey has sought to address rumours that he named his son after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Reggae Boyz star and winger for Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen and longtime girlfriend Stephanie Hope welcomed their first child together on June 14.
Leon Bailey and Stephanie named him, Leo Cristiano which many though was a tribute to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the two highest-earning football players in the world.
However according to Bailey, his son is named after himself, with the second name being complementary.
“Leo is an abbreviation of Leon. And Leo is the lion – I am a lion. I believe that my son also grows up with the mentality of being a fighter and a leader. And Cristiano is a lovely name that goes well with Leo,” He told German media house Bild.
