Dancehall artiste Laden appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court on Tuesday to answer charges of breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act.

The case was postponed, and Laden will appear again with his lawyer on Wednesday, December 9th.

The Disaster Risk Management act states that: where a member of the public fails to comply with the direction of an authorised officer, that individual commits a breach of section 27(1)(b) of the Disaster Risk Management Act, and is liable to prosecution under section 52(b) of the Disaster Risk Management Act. Fines for persons who have failed to comply have ranged from $20,000 to $200,000 in courts across the island.

Laden has been in police lock-up since his arrest in October. The “Time To Shine” deejay, real name Okeefe Aarons, pleaded guilty to charges of illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and failing to stop at the request of the police in relation to an incident in October where he was spotted breaching the national curfew set to limit the spread of COVID-19.

He will be sentenced on December 15th.
