Kranium Drops ‘In Charge’ Video, Releases ‘Midnight Sparks’ Album

Dancehall superstar Kranium shares a new video. Directed by Maya Cozier, the visual for “In Charge” is a family affair, both Kranium and Cozier hailing from the West Indies – Jamaica and Trinidad respectively – before moving to New York.

The result is their ability to create borderless art, universal but rooted in their hometown. On working with Kranium, Cozier says: “I remember hearing Kranium’s first hit single all over the streets of Trinidad when it dropped. So fastforward to today, it was surreal to bring the visuals for ‘In Charge’ and collaborate with the melody gad himself.”

Midnight Sparks is was released on December 6th, via Atlantic Records and is the highly-anticipated follow up to his 2015 EP Rumors. The album is a testament to all the work he’s been putting in the past few years, garnering an exciting group of heavy-hitters including Ty Dolla $ign, Burna Boy, AJ Tracey, PJ, Alkaline, and Mahalia. The album also includes previous single “Talkin” and arrives just in time as the perfect soundtrack for cuffing season and all of its impending late nights.

Kranium is a global artist ahead of his time. Since the release of his RIAA Certified GOLD breakout single “Nobody Has To Know” in 2015, the Jamaican-born, New York-based singer continues to pave the way for the future of dancehall. He has collaborated with some of the biggest artists in Dancehall and Afrobeat music (Mr. Eazi, Wizkid, Alkaline) to some of the world’s most popular artists (Ty Dolla $ign, Ed Sheeran, Lil Kim, Bebe Rexha, Major Lazer) and now his forthcoming project Midnight Sparks is set to further his success and cement his status as a torchbearer of the new legacy of dancehall.
