Judge Makes Ruling In Ninja Man Murder Trial

Ninja Man and his two co-accused will have a case of murder to answer.

Justice Martin Gayle made the ruling in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston on Friday after closing of the prosecution’s case, which involved testimony from some seven witnesses, including three civilians.

During the stressful trial, the “Don Gorgon” fell ill and was hospitalised, reportedly with a heart ailment, for which he is said to be in need of surgery.

The allegations against the Veteran artist, real name Desmond Ballentine, along with his son, Janeil, and another man, Dennis Clayton, are that they collectively engaged in the fatal shooting of Ricardo Johnson, also known as ‘Ricky Trooper’, in the Marl Road area of St Andrew in 2009.

The case, first mentioned in court the same year, has had 17 missed trial dates and 23 mention dates since then.
