The John F Kennedy Airport in New York was sent into a widespread panic on Sunday night, following reports of gunfire which triggered a massive response from emergency response.
Reports have now emerged that the chaos may have been prompted by people cheering, clapping and banging for Olympic champion Usain Bolt, which may have been mistaken for gunfire.
The NYPD say they recieved reports of shots fired at two terminal, which reportedly sparked a massive evacuation, however evidence of a shooting has yet to surface.
The incident reportedly took place at approximately 9:30 pm, just as the men’s 100m Olympic finals took place.
